Most folks in America think of Thomas Kinkade as the painter of idyllic, romantic, colorful, homey and sometimes schmaltzy scenes. Actually, some of them are lovely, and I like them.But what I REALLY enjoy are his plein air -- painting on location -- paintings. He is not well known for these, and have not received the credit he is due for them. Simply lovely!Sure, his cliche romantic paintings brought in the bread and butter and paid the bills, etc. But his true legacy, once word gets out, will be his plein air work.
