Matériologies et texturologies from the Milton D. Ratner Family Collection Details
"This exhibition made up, for the most part, of small works on paper nevertheless illuminates the dominant creative personality of Jean Dubuffet. The fifty-five works [in this catalog] assembled differ in technique. Some are unique while others existing as editions derive from one original surface. Except for two canvases, all works are on paper but despite this common ground they vary widely in their mode of execution. Direct application of oil or chinese ink, assemblages transformed into print, and finally straight, lithography in black and white and in color, the latter using as few as two or as many as eight colors for individual works are among the technical variations represented in this selection." - Thomas M.
